Just as we launch the Blog on Product Management …

… I join the sales team. For over 10 years now I’ve been doing product management and marketing, and about a month ago I was recruited into sales. Actually Business Development, recruiting channel partners. At Fortiva our CEO Eric Goodwin believes that Product Managers will make the best business development people because they understand the market, the product, and hopefully also the selling/buying process.

Anyway, this blog will be mostly about PM. But being in sales changes a person’s perspective, so I intend to document my journey.

My first observation: It’s the role, not the person. Once you are trying to make a sale, you start acting like a lot of sales people. At least I have. And it’s quite surprising. More in later posts.
